Released in 1982, Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out reached number 6 in the UK charts in early 1983 and did just as well in the USA. An absolutely fantastic pop song by a brilliant musician, he was never to scale these chart heights again, but he made his mark in Pop history with this and It's Different For Girls.

Men At Work – Down Under

Down Under is/was one of the greats of the 80s and was a huge worldwide hit. Men At Work had a few other notable hits, but nothing anywhere near as big as this one.

Duran Duran – Save A Prayer

Save A Prayer became Duran Duran's highest charting hit to date, reaching number 2 in the UK charts in 1982. Another personal favourite of mine.

Eurythmics – Love Is A Stranger

Love Is A Stranger was the Eurythmics breakthrough hit, reaching number 6 in the UK charts in 1982. They went on to have a string of UK Top 10 hits in the 90s, though only one Number 1 (and no, it wasn't Sweet Dreams!). I was lucky enough to see them live a number of times in the mid 80s and they were excellent!
